Re: Shore Mackerel Reports '13 here...
Nothing from Greystones tonight, mind you that was at low tide and 2 hours up. Never seen so many beds of Bootlace weed, maybe that will explain the amount of Pollock and the lack of Macs. Almost unfishable tonight.
A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

Plenty on dun laoghaire west today, only had 2 myself but was using spinner, it was very dangerous, I had to move several times to avoid a set of feathers in the face, it kind of annoys me as a lot of these anglers only fish a few weeks of the year when the macks are in. You would never see them on a beach in the depts of winter.

Re: Shore Mackerel Reports '13 here...
One of my few proper mackerel report of the season report I think
People: Myself and father-in-law
Venue: Monkstown (jetty?)
Time: 19.30 - 21.00
Tide: HT @ 21.30
Rig: luminous krill and toby spoon
Result: 2 mackerel
Lines of anglers along de wall, lovely evening pretty much uncontaminated by mackerel though, mostly none caught, couple of people caught one, one fella did catch a dozen apparently.
The mackerel were actually appearing, breaking the surface but not very often, but they hadn't much interest in lures, oh well....
Great to see so many reports, please keep reporting if you use this thread, especially blanks!
Regards
Blackie

I watched a few lads (who need to go to casting school) trying to fish off the back of the east pier yesterday. Lots of Lidl's finest on display and no macks landed in the half hour I was there anyway.
List 2010. fish
List 2011: less fish
2012: less fish again,
2013: even less fish.

Plenty of people too, but I suppose it's to be expected. If you can cast 80 - 100 meters, head up the coast a bit for some plesent Mackie bashing.

Had 14 today off Dun laoghaire west pier, and the seal had just as many... loads of people catching...
Lots of small mac but a few big ones.
