Buy a couple of Cree lamps off eBay probably cost 30 Euro for 2 incl charger and batteries. Well worth it . I got one about 3 years ago still going strong even dropped in sea one night. Got another last year as a spare.

I use the LED Lensor H 14 R.

Its rechargable and gives plenty of light. Using it a year with no issues.

I bought the Cree one from ebay and for me it was shite (More light off a phone and batteries were muck). However I might have just been unlucky and gotten a dodgy one as others seem to have gotten them with no problems.

Got the h14r in Henrys last year.I find it great, especially as you can dim or brighten the headlamp and I don't spend a fortune on batteries.

I got a Led Lenser for x-mas but has given me nothing but trouble, it just blackens out while fishing and when turning it on it doesn't follow the program. the thing has a minid of it's own. Looking for an alternative myself now after I have returned this one.

€150 is loads, with change... LED Lensor H14 is awesome but might be overkill - even on the dimmest setting it's too bright for close up stuff and will wipe your night sight for ages. (not much else out there as good as it for range though).

Try camping shops/fishing shops and ask for one that has a dimmer function or a red setting. Most of them will let you play with them to see. There's loads of brands, and LED Lensor do smaller models too which are excellent.
