This week has it all come togeather

Quick one. With the amount of dead shellfish around at the moment will this encourage fish to feed as soon as the easterlys drop. In my mind it should as iv always been led to believe that following a blustery few days and some surf bass in particular move in to hover up dislodged shellfish and other forms of food. Am I right or wrong.

Just wondering because if this is the case would it mean that if this weekend holds weather wise with a drop in breeze and the moon being full (i could be wrong) this weekend should be spot on for bass all along the east coast.

I was thinking the same Martin. I can't base my opinion on exprience. i can only work off what i've been researching.

They say the fishing can be very good after a prolonged onshore wind. Its always a good idea to look at what the last five days where like. rule of thumb i'm going to work by is force 3 - 4 hit the beaches, 5 - 6 find sheltered marks, after 5 - 6 back to the beaches.

I think this weekend is actually a neap tide with a "new" moon next Thursday. I wouldn't think this would put me off though as the dislodged food should be close in near the low water line and won't be dispersed as much. If they are chasing small fish, the bait fish will be able to stay in closer too on the ebb as the current won't be as strong pulling them back out to see.

The temperature will rise slightly but i'm not convinced it will heat the water up enough above the magic number i've been personally waiting for of around 10 - 11c. I found a recent post on here about Sea Bass digestion that made perfect sense to me. In warmer water the digestion process can be a matter of hours, and when its cold it can take days. That would mean during the warmer conditions the fish can feed more, as they can fill they're bellies, digest and fill again. So if this weekend is cold i'm still hoping there will be fish with emtpy bellies just dying for one of my peelers.

Thats my two cents anyway. Otherwise i'm just glad to get out and fish for a while down my usual neck of the woods

I really hope you catch lads, But......

It’s early April, the wind is out of the North East (Has been from the east the last 6 weeks), Tides are small this weekend & it’ to be minus 4 Celsius on Friday night.

In my limited experience, these aren’t hugely conducive to catching bass – let alone on the comparatively poor east coast. Plenty of fish caught last weekend during the Easter festival on Rostoonstown & in the Estuary. Probably a better bet. Would love to be proved wrong though!

In my limited experience, these aren’t hugely conducive to catching Bass – let alone on the comparatively poor east coast. Plenty of fish caught last weekend during the Easter festival on Rostoonstown & in the Estuary. Probably a better bet. Would love to be proved wrong though!

I haven't caught a fish in north wexford in a while so i'd be happy with anything there. I'm planning on taking some low water pictures during the day to do some recci anyay. anything good being caught down south last weekend? winds seem to be shifting from north.north east to south on satuday.

What weather sites do you use Alby? I try to average out a few, because they all give sligthly different reports. what i'm expecting is;

too cold yet a week of daytime temp of 11 deg will warm things up, 9 deg today so still too cold ,i,m going to try this afternoon i,ll let ya know even though i think its too early prob more chance of codling than bass

I was out walking on the beach this morning as the tide was dropping and found a bass washed up with the shells.

I'd say he was feeding in the shallows and got stranded.
