when do hounds completely dissappear?????

just wondering when is the latest you could fish for hounds say from nth wexford before they dissappear, ive been doing well the last couple of weeks but i no its coming to an end.. will they stil be showing in the next 2 weeks ???

they are really starting to thin out now,with small and medium hounds allmost gone,I find that a few specimen sizes tend to
linger a while yet , probably wont last another week or two.

Yes they will, I've had specimens into the second week of October & had several fish per session up until the end of September.

If the fish have gone thin on the ground, it's probably because there is not a great crab moult on as opposed to the fish moving on because it's got too cold. A few of the lads have had them into December when cod fishing in Ennerielly, although to be fair, that is fairly flukey.

just looking back on last years reports and it seems hounds have showed into early septemper so there still a bit of hope yet of beating my pb
