Hi lads went shore fishing last week & I noticed while casting with my Abu mag elite that the line coming off the reel was under a another loop of line & had to pull meters of line off but kept digging in. My other multiplier a diawa 7ht had the same problem the line coming off the spool was caught under the spool line. Can't make out why this happened as the last session before this I simply reeled in washed the reels and next outing the line was caught under other loops. I'm using multipliers for a good few years & this only happened a few times over the years. Have put new line on the reels sufix tritanium .35mm line. Any lads got any indies how this can happen & how to prevent it. Thanks in advance

Re: Multiplier line digging in
Hi Conor, I also have a penn 525 mag 2 & haven't had a problem with the line digging in. i had problems when I first bought there reel tried to cast it straight from the box but kept getting snap offs & over runs. Striped it down & removed the blue marine grease & oiled the bearings.

Re: Multiplier line digging in
The line comes off just like it goes on I'm afraid. Keep it level and even spread across the spool, lay it slowly and you'll have no issues.
It's not your line and it's not your reels.
Have a good hard look at those thumbs gents

Re: Multiplier line digging in
Has happened me the odd time, it happens when the end off the line goes under another loop off line when the reel is not in use....it could happen when your washing it, then if you don't spot it and cast out the line feels as if its sticking while coming off and then the only way to get rid of it is to pull all the line off the spool till it works its way to the end.
The best ways to avoid it are to check before you run the line through the guides by pulling off some line to make sure its not sticking and visually checking to see if it looks to be under another loop of line, you could also use some sort of a link clip (if you don't already) that will go through the guides and which you can leave on the reel which helps to stop the end moving around when not in use.

Re: Multiplier line digging in
I think your right anto2121 when I wash my reels I give them a good crank to get the excess water out so next time I'll just wash them without giving them a good crank. Thanks again your spot on

Re: Multiplier line digging in
Do you cut off your link off your shock leader and wind the leader back on the multi? If you do this is when the line gets under its self, used to happen to me the odd time now I leave the link on leave the drag loose and wrap the line round the reel and clip the lead link onto the spool release button, never happened since
