East Cork – Daylight Beach

#1 Post by donal domeney »

People:Talking to myself

Duration:2hours 15mins

Tide:on the flood

Weather:tee shirt stuff

Bait:lug

Rigs:new ones

Results: a nice day out

Report:

Header to a beach that will fish during the day, only to find that the recent storms had washed over two feet of sand of the beach so driving on to it was a no go. Yes I am a lazy angler and walking a half mile down a beach was out of the question.
So I headed on to the next beach. Walking here would only be about 50yds so I could live with that.

In the first two casts I landed a 37cm flounder and a 36cm coalfish before I could get a chance to bait up a second trace or get the second rod ready. After the photo call I eventually got the second rod out. Fished it about 40yds out in what seemed to be a gully as the waves were not breaking on this part of the beach. Plenty of small bites from the start but it wasn’t long before the bigger fish showed.
Two surfers arrived on the scene and the rod at distance didn’t see another fish. The rod in close kept the count going.
With darkness setting in and the headlight in the jeep it was time to make road.
In all 2 flounder over 30cm, 7 coalies well over the 30cm and 3 or 4 pin coalies a soft day out

Good session there Donal, those surfers can be a nuisance, met a few on our trips over to the south, very considerate people when you have 5 miles of beach and they decide the bit in front of you is the best spot
