Re: Newcastle
Not the end of the world mate, fishin spots don't always 'perform'
Weather , tides, etc . If you write off marks so quickly, ya'll soon run out of them! When you see results of good sessions posted by anglers on the site, you also have to consider the amount of blanks, poor results and weed battlin' beach trudgin' , fence climbin, rock hoppin' that is part of this great sport....just my tupence' worth

Re: Newcastle
Newcastle has fished brilliantly since last winter.
Loads of dogs & whiting, smoothounds, bass, proper tope & good size plaice (all these fish caught within the last month) like all Wicklow beaches, an onshore blow will make it unfishable with weed, and big tides will run fast making fishing difficult - it's a great beach in the right conditions!

Re: Newcastle
Same thing happened me with Kilcoole mate. It can get you down but it happens everywhere. It can't be good all the time, I suppose.

Re: Newcastle
I fished killoughter on the 24th and there wasn't much weed at all , didn't get any dogs , (which I wanted ) got ,gurnard , flounder and whiting , I wouldn't give up on a mark so quick , I'd just put it down as a bad day , I usually have a great days fishing on killoughter with double dogs every cast , but I'll be back again to try again
Better luck next time

Re: Newcastle
I used to fish it years ago and have had some nice fish off it including thornies nice fat coddling in winter and some plate sized plaice but I have to say from about 2004 on the fishing off Newcastle has left a lot to be desired a he'll of a lot more blanks than productive days if I'm honest so I don't fish it much anymore it jus shows what happened to them beaches including kilcoole five mile etc in the last ten years it's frightening
