You might have a chance of bagging the odd coddling now in killiney but is forget about the rest of them places its gettin late for cod you can give it a shot but is gear towards next season if I were you and think about travelling to Waterford or cork for successful cod fishing

Re: Bait...
In fairness, thats a nicely put together bait grumpy - crab would be best though. Cod are fairly sparse around those places even in peak season though.

Re: Bait...
I always found Mussel out fished any other bait back when I used to fish for them. I'd be dropping that bait in closer to see if there are any early silver fellas about.

Re: Bait...
I'm dropping the large baits around 90/100 m out and some smaller ones around 50m.plenty of dogs at both distances.looks like i'll have to wait 'til autumn for some cod...

Re: Bait...
Killiney does produce nice codling I have had a share of them there over the years and autumn is actually he best time to fish big peeler baits fished on a pulley into the rough ground used to work for me

Re: Bait...
To get cod you should head to waterford or cork ..... you dont need to use giant baits to get the small fish .... I always find lug worked best for me , mussel a good help

Re: Bait...
I had a 32cm Codling last night in a match. Caught it on a size one kamassan b940m with a small amount of lug tipped with some silver mackerel belly. It was the biggest round fish of the match. I was trying for whiting when I caught it just north of morriscastle.oldrochie wrote:a few small cod showing on the east coast at morriscastle last sunday nite ......all got on lug tipped with mac.....
