I've heard of a few people getting lifted for possession of a dangerous weapon after forgetting to take their knives out if the car or pockets!!!
keep it in your tackle bag or box and you wont be breaking any laws. i cant see the point in keeping it in the car or your pocket in the first place.

I had just launched from Carrigaholt slip when I realised I had forgotten to take my life jacket from the van, As I looked back at the van I remembered that I had an imax floatation jacket in the cabin so thought I wouldn’t need it,

I was supposed to meet a friend on the kerry side of the estuary and running an hour late I decided to give it full throttle but noticed the boat was sluggish so I looks back at the engine to find the floor of the boat was under 6 inches of water,

I had forgot to put the 2 Drain plugs back in before launching  made it to the outer pier where I tied the aft cleat to a steel ladder before I could reach down to put the plugs back,

So now when I forget something I sit back and think it could be worse :)
