Tompot blennys Is that the new thing now?
Right so my lack of fishing has led me to make up fake reports about an east coast cod bonanza, slag Staffo, give out about text talk and generally act the goat. So I might as well use my boredom to write something constructive and ask a question that I often think about myself. If my 2 boys follow the old man and have a love of fishing what will it be like for them? Its pretty bad a lot of the time now, but in fifteen to twenty years what will it be like ? Will the biggest fish left on the Irish coast be a short spined sea Scorpion or a tompot blenny ? Will it be so bad even Roger will stop going out fishing or god forbid even eyesreilly will hang up his tackle
It would be good to hear your opinions.

Could be why this LRFing is becoming so popular Sod. Anglers subconsciously evolving. Can see it now. River Monsters Season 34 - Jeremey tackles a 2lb Shad from St. Mullins...

Re: Tompot blennys Is that the new thing now?
I remember doing sort of lrf fishing when I was a young lad we always got small wrasse blennies scorpion fish etc,we used to fish the gullies with small rods a single hook and whatever small weights we had ,usually we got loads .so for old times sake I tried all our old spots with same rigs and baits (last year),to my amazement I nearly blanked one scorpion fish felt sorry for me ,in the space of about 20 years even the minis are getting scarce,i was fishing off rocks in Balbriggan don't know if its the case everywhere else but my local spots really are gone to sh1t
I'd like to think that I can bring my young lad fishing in a few years and get something where I started off I hope
