Fenit area

#1 Post by Nicholas6850 »

Hi there I'm new to the site here just want to say hello and hopefully a bit of info. Myself and two brothers are heading to fenit for a week in 2 weeks time. Wee cottage right beside pier and strand of beach. It's a 500 mile journey there so any info on the area would go a long way for us. We are hoping for bass but is there anything else we can target from here at this time of year? Bait already bought in bulk for the trip, squid, mack, lug, razor, cuttlefish and a bit of fresh rag before we leave. I never caught a bass before so hope this is my time.

The pier and further on fenit island throws up ray flats pollock and conger and on the fenit road about five miles from tralee there a pub called the oyster tavern as far as I can remember that's the name you can fish beside that into tralee bay over high water for ray bass flatfish and more than occasional sting ray.... there a golf club located near fenit pier that will drive through it will lead ya to a surf beach that through up schoolies and turbot for me although a trip to the dingle peninsula side might give you a better chance of bass on the likes of inch beach

its a bit early for the stingers from the end of march they slowly start to arrive into the bay up till september depending in the weather and water temps
