I use both coasters and an abu grip lok on different rods. Coasters that came with one of my rods were crap so picked up the abu. Grand and handy, just tighten the reel and it clamps the seat onto the rod. Little bit bulkier than coasters but does great job. I've comfy coasters on my other rod and theyre the business too. Reel is rock solid with them and you get a good grip on the rod.

My opinion? I like both but these are the only coasters I like. Give us a shout if youre around wicklow/wex and you can try both if you want.

why not find a spot on the rod were you like the reel and glue a fuji reel seat on instead of messing around with crap abu sliding seats and coasters

I've tried both...found the abu griplock ok once you get used to the increased width of your rod (!) I found after time that the treads can become crossed, making it difficult to get the reel off when packing up...I switched to a pair of bog standard breakaway plastic coasters, and have had no problems ,plus they add to a "bare bones "look which suits me...I also use coasters from u.k hooks.. they area little pricey but very comfortable. so its coasters all the way... no matter what alan yates says ...any way "cracko" uses them, so they're deffo the boys fer me!
