Shelf life of line?

#1 Post by paul skelly »

Hi all just want to know does anyone know the shelf life of mono line?
I bought a big bulk spool 8000m or so and now am thinking by the time I get through it all it might be useless ?
Any info would be great
Thanks paul

keep it out of direct sunlight, have a couple of bulk spools for over two years ...no problems so far.

UV light and extreme temperature will render mono useless. If its kept in a stable environment in the dark it should be fine for years.

I heard of wrapping the spool in tin foil, which would keep out the light I suppose

Would that not increase the heat though? Not being smart, just curious.

I don't think it would to be honest. I'd imagine if you leave it somewhere cool you'd be fine
