Tackle Cork

Hi all,

Relatively new angler here, did a good bit down in NZ when I was there for a few months recently now want to get back into the beach fishing here. I have "borrowed" a friend's beachcaster but I don't have much else in the line of tackle- swivels, hooks, sinkers, beads, shockleader, flouro leader, mono, all that stuff.

Now I only want gear to get me back going i.e. stuff that won't break the bank. I'm in Cork can anyone advise a good spot to go?

call to dan lynch in the half way, its easily the best tackle shop in cork. dan is a top angler himself and is very generous with info if you need any.

to get to the shop go right at the halfway roundabout on the main cork to bandon road, across the bridge and turn right into the village. keep going till your almost out of the village and you will see a row of stone fronted houses on the right. dans place is directly after these and has a sandwich board sign at the driveway. the shop is behind the house.
he usually goes fishing himself on thursdays, someone should be there to serve you but might not have the same quality of info and advise as dan so wait till tomorrow or the weekend to call.

make a list of what you think you need as its very easy to forget stuff if your buying a lot and only remember when its too late and your at home.

Cheers red,

Working in Whesht Cork tomorrow so will be passing by Halfway on the way home. Will he be open till six or after?
I'm not looking for Rolls Royce stuff will I be able to escape with most of my payslip intact?!

no need to spend a fortune but dont scrimp on terminal tackle as thats what connects you to the fish, if that snaps the fish is gone along with your trace, lead etc.

Make sure you ring in advance. With the weather we are having he could be gone out in the boat fishing.
