BOMBER REPORT 16/07/11

#1 Post by bigsod »

People:32 anglers

Duration:8 untill 12

Tide:HW at 10:30

Weather:dry until the end, westerly breeze.

Bait:All kinds

Rigs:Mostly pulleys and clipped downs.

Results:Smoothounds, ray, plaice, flounder, gurnard, dogs, dabs.

Report:
Well where do I start with this one :D A few big fish were caught alright, with 4 anglers getting hounds over the 90cm mark . A few hounds in the 80s cms and 70s cms were caught also and Ken Forsyth had a ray of 35 cms. Dogs and flats also came into play with the huge prize table on offer, 18 prizes were presented on the night  All the better fish came early on with very little action when darkness fell.
The weather stayed dry and this meant the SCI catering division of Cracko and AG got to work feeding the masses, and what a job they did the bomber burger will go down in legend 8) Thanks to Ger Mitchell for supplying the burgers. Roger de dodger kindly gave us a box of fireworks which the SCI pyrotechnics team used to put on a display which seemed to go down well with the lads
When the results were counted we had a winner in Paudie O'Driscoll with a 97 cm hound who was rewarded for his long drive from cork, With Steven Clancy seccond with a 94cm hound and Stephen Glynn third with a hound of 92cm. The junior prize went to Ryan Brown.
Thanks to everone for turning up and fishing to support our casting team, it is much appreciated. Also many thanks to all the people and businesses who gave so generously with prizes 8) So see you all next year for big fish bomber 2012 :D

Big Bomber report card:

plus points: great craic.a few good fish, great prizes and plenty of them, good mix of anglers ,all parts of the country attended, well organized and run, especially at the end, score cards added up quickly and correctly, other organizers .take note, BBQ,fireworks, weather played ball, correct type of venue for time of year, again other organizers take note, cracko was there, all in all ,a good attempt from a group of guys whose main interest is field work, not fishing

minus points:
not enough to crib about.

overall rating 8+ (personal opinion)

  A bit late i know, but i lost the whole of yesterday to sleep!
Congrats to Paudie "The Bomber" O Driscoll on his win and a massive thank you to everyone who attended from all over the country, we are delighted everyone enjoyed themselves, and very much apriciated by everyone at SCI. It was great to meet a few new faces and to hook up with some old friends too..
I think this one may well become an annual event as will the now infamous "Bomber Burger" thanks to Gerry the butcher and to Larry and Cracko. I would also like to thank all our other sponsors for all their very kind donations and to Sod, Alby, Dennis, Dougal and everyone else who helped out to make it the great sucess it was, Cheers lads
Pic,s to follow......
