How do you have yours?

#1 Post by yngkmd »

background: i live in a small 3 bedroom terrace with no shed so storage space is ltd.

Mid november i was looking for my headlight and couldnt find it. wasnt in my jacket my bag inside my hat, it was nowhere to be seen. while searching for it i found tackle i forgot i even had. i had stuff everywhere, in the attic, the back porch, hotpress, in the wardrobe, on top of the wardrobe, under the bed, random shelves and pretty much every drawer had some random bit of tackle or something fishing related in it. decided there and then i had to do something about so gathered everything together in one place and had no idea i had so much stuff. had to buy some pine storage shelves for the gear, it was too big but was able to cut the bits i needed to fit and used the left overs to make the board for the reels, then couldnt find a chest big enough for the clothes and boots so bought 2 small ones and used the bits to make one big one. the bit where the chest is at the moment originally had an old metal water tank of similar size which i managed to get out of the attic and downstairs all by myself without incident (the potential for disaster was huge so was really chuffed).
was amazed at the number of rods and reels i have, nearly 20 of each. and all of which i've used at least once in the last year except 1 or 2. great to be prepared for every occasion. same for the tackle boxes, one for sea fishing, one for general coarse fishing, one for pike, one for spinning, 2 fly boxes, boat traces and pirks, etc etc you name it i probably have it or something very similar.

i know few of you will care that much but im really pleased with how it turned out.
everything has its place and everything in its place. really i should move house to somewhere i can have a shed then i can really organise everything.

its taken 2 months to find everything and find a place for it. once id finished i found more stuff under the stairs and kinda had to squeeze it in. i never did find the headtorch but i did find another i lost years ago :)

anyone else have similar disorganisation issues as i did or was it just me?

i had a similar issue with my rods. i have a shed thats just under 8 foot but 2 of my rods have 8 foot tips which means they were just too long. i could just about get them in but couldnt really put them anywhere. i got my brother in law to cut a hole in the end of the shed and he built a box around the hole using marine ply wood and i fitted 2 brackets from a shelf. now i can fit my tripod, 4 rods and a shelter on the shelf and they stick out into the box. they just go in the door and out the hole so i dont have to go wangling them around trying to fit them in.

I used have all my stuff out in the shed at home, but due to the ex wife deciding she would be better off on her own  Im back with the folks and have all my gear up in my room, its deadly :D Its like living in a tackle shop with no one to give out the rooms full of tackle, so now before I go to sleep I look longily at my Zziplexs safe in the knowledge they will always love me

Always with me and ready to be used
I used to have them in the van all the time but now because the lack of work i make enough space in the shed and they live in there now..
Next project is a rig making table with some shelves for the bits and bobs.
