hi billy i refreeze bait all the time, and to save you from getting hassle from your missus about the bait, you want to invest in a small fridge or freezer and keep it for bait only, just stick it in the shed.

keep it in plastic tubs with lids on and there should be no problems
old ice cream containers should do the trick.

Used to freeze mackeral then thaw out to use as bait and refreeze again, when it was thawed out again it went to mush and pretty useless toput on a hook even using elasticated thread......

I'd refreeze sand eel but only once, Handy to have in the freezer and I've still caught plenty of fish on them. Mac can be crap refrozen but can be made better by wrapping in newspaper before re-freezing.

all good and ture points, but dont dismiss old bait as useless guys, if i'm going for huss old ranchad baits work the best. this season i've had a huss 9lb+ and a ray 10lb+ all got on old mac; that was refrozen up teen times. old mac; is also perfect for stuffing squid to use for thornies, and the doggies love old manky bait...

Bought some blast frozen mackeral from a tackle shop the other day and when thawed out was falling to pieces :?: Went to tesco,s yesterday and on a clearence shelf they had mackeral fillets half price so went to the harbour for a spot of fishing. The mackeral was grand on the hook but didnt produce any catch, was wondering if the fillets would have been rinsed in fresh water so reducing its scent over a couple of days in the shop...

Razor in and out of the freezer, more times the better, however it tends to work best on certain marks.flounder like it as
a main bait or a tip, wraps can also benefit from re-freezing,squid becomes an inferior bait when re-frozen,forget about fish baits and crab, quality
lug can be gutted and froze down, mussel can benefit from multiple trips to the freezer, but like razor works best at certain venues and at specific times of the year. :)

i refreeze bait alot, some times i find the older mac works better than fresh, esp for dogs,
as shane has said sandeel goes mushy and is hard to keep on, but ive had great results on refroze eel to,

when im bringing out refroze bait i always have fresher stuff with me to, but there are the few trips the older stuff is better,

refrozen lug works well, and ive had some success on refrozen eels for finicky dogs, to be honest anything else was a disaster
