Beads
In the past week I have read two conflicting opinions on the use of coloured beads in shore rigs. Has anyone got an opinion on the use of coloured beads v black? Does anyone incorporate luminous beads as part of their setup?

Re: Beads
Not beads but glow grub's same idea really, thread on to the hook over the eye and onto the line charge with a head torch, I've had some big Huss off the shore this way, also had whiting but cut the grub down to a 1/4 size

Re: Beads
top Liverpool boat angler and master rig maker alan sharpe has said that fishing with beads and flashers on snoods will outfish ordinary snoods by ten to one at least.he designed a lot of the rigs that boat anglers take for granted nowdays he has so much fate in them that he never uses a plain snood no matter what the species.his results in major comps prove his point.
common sense not very common

Re: Beads
I use sequence and beads together normally and I would agree with you greg they do out fish plain snoods, I haven't figured out which ones work best yet but I'm trying white and green combo lately and I've been catching, I've also switched to longer snoods and I'm using rubber float stops to keep the beads closer to the hook. 99% of my fishing is at night, if I fish during the day id add colour reds , yellows, its all an experiment until you find a combo that suits you and sometimes less is more

Re: Beads
id use a small bead and 1 or 2 sequence on a snoods meant for cod , whiting ,coalie has worked in recent weeks , id be willing to fish without them , 2 rods 1with 1 without and weigh up the results

Re: Beads
I've recently fished the Tronix lumi beeds on a rig and a lad with me fished without them. I had flats, and a few small codling on the lumi rig. He had cod after cod after cod and no flats without them.
I think flats scavenge and the beeds get their attraction. Rounds is a different story. All opinion of course but that's mine.snoods, gulleys, presentation, bait size. All factors.

Re: Beads
Ye the beads that glow in the dark can work for whiting cod and coalies. Lady bird beads can be good for flounders. I don't use any beads when targeting bass generally.

Re: Beads
i will be very interested to hear the results dave

Re: Beads
I tried using a single green bead and a silver sequin last night, had plenty of whiting, pouting, dogfish, silver eel and a cod, a fish a cast I'm not sure if it was the added attraction that helped on the snood or the fresh rag and squid cocktail on the hooks,
I changed baits to mackerel strips for a few casts and things slowed down when I went back to rag and squid my rod started tapping again, I have luminous beads on order , I can't wait to try them out

Re: Beads
I fished in Youghal last week with 2 mates , 2 of us had no attraction on the snoods other than our bait, the lad fished a few little pink beads for the night on each snood, I had dogfish and whiting the other lad a single cod, my mate using pink beads had 7 cod 2 whiting we all used crab, squid razor and rag as bait, last night in Cobh I used the pink beads on one rod and had two decent codling 1lb 11oz and 2lb 10oz, dogfish, pouting and poor cod, the rod with no beads blanked for me, the experiment continues

Re: Beads
Hi lads over a long period of time I have come to find that if u are after whiting a one or two green lumi beads with a green sequin as a bait stop works for me but if I'm after cod the same set up but useing lumi pink beads works I got that tip of an old gentleman years ago back in England he said that pink works when cod are gorging ofn shrimp as shrimp give of a luminescent ting at night not sure if this is true or not but works for means any on
