Tips for a visitor

#1 Post by trailblazzer »

Hi all,

About this time last year I emigrated to New Zealand. I came home for a holiday yesterday and I'm itching to get out to the shore. I live in Wexford, can anyone point me to somewhere that's fishing well lately? I don't want to blank if I can avoid it!
I realise nobody wants to give me they're hotspots. But some pointers would be good!

Thanks guys!

The whole wexford coast is fishing well any of the east facing beaches are producing ckurtown, tinnebearna ,morriscastle currachloe etc and if ya on the south coast ballyhealy or rostoonstown are worth a go crab and lug are the best baits to use fished into darkness prefrebly rosslare strand is worth a try as well for hounds but ya have a chance of smoothounds bass flatfish dogfish etc off all the beaches best of luck

Thanks for the info! Good to know! I'm actually down fishing Rostoonstown at the moment. I could only get squid in the bait shop. Nothing happening here at high tide. Plenty of weed floating around.
I might have to go get some lug the old fashioned way tomorrow.

Thanks for the help. Are the eastern beaches all best at high tide? Yeah?

Put a whole squid on big hooks ya might hook into a huss or the odd Ray from rostoonstown but ye ya,d do a lot better with some lug or crab to use as bait mix them with the squid but rostoonstoon fishes well on the drop or dead low tide if it's calm for huss and that .. the eastern beaches do usually fish better on an incoming tide but not always it depends on what your looking for an incoming tide usually produces better fishing for hounds and bass and things like that but for Ray and things like that I find low tide on a calm night best
