3 lb whiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy smokes. Is that a typo? 1/3 lb whiting would be decent. Am I wrong in saying that 3lb is close to the record?? Was it not a codling?? If it was a whiting well done!

Re: ardmore pier new years day
Some serious whitting in that whole bay ,I and a few of the lads have had plenty around the 46cm size this year so not outside the realms of possibility that a 3lber could have been landedStephen8wood wrote:3 lb whiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't have either a camera ir a ruler with me. The whiting was just about 50cm. It was a cracker. At first I thought it had to be a codling, but it was defo a whiting. It appeared to be a loner as I didn't see any other whiting landed at the same time.

Re: ardmore pier new years day
Well done. It's a shore whiting of a lifetime. If they were all that big we wouldn't bother with the codling. Superb eating fish.

Re: ardmore pier new years day
hi jon, good to meet you buddy. it was myself and my son who came down to talk to you after you caught the whiting. we did'nt have any luck on the beach across the way after we left you. but we did come back later on and there was 2 local lads fishing where you were and they had 5 or 6 whiting all between 1lb and 2lb, but none as big as the stonker that you had.
but what surprised me was the fact that they did'nt seem too impressed with the crackers that they were catching
they reckoned that there were around about average for that spot
i told them that up north a 30cm whiting was a good one
good to meet you man and put a name to a face
