I hope to get in to shore fishing and have bought a 14ft rod, reel, rigs etc but it has dawned on me that I'd need a rod rest - only fly and spinning until now so bait is a new game. Can anybody suggest a beach rod rest that will not break the bank but do an amateur out to enjoy a few hours fishing. There are no tackle shops locally to source one or get advice.
Many thanks.

Re: Rod Rests
Thats a bit harsh. I agree the golds is the better option but there are lots of good tripods available.ste c wrote:get an ian golds tripod stay away from all the other dirt
The salt and the mti tripods are both good, a little heavy but very sturdy and might have the edge on uneven ground.
For beach fishing the 6ft golds is the dogs danglies tho. I usually keep a bag packed away so i can fill it with rocks or sand to hang off it if the winds are high.

Re: Rod Rests
A sheaksphere salt tripod is a excellent rod rest. Have been using one for four years now & very happy with it. Very steady will not blow over easily & very adjustable.
