planning for kerry trip next week

#1 Post by jhcabs »

Hi Guys

Planning a week in Kerry next week with a rented campervan loaded with bait, rods and lures.

Where going to try for a mix bag of Bass, Pollock and Ray. I've mapped out all the regular marks available by seraching the web but i was wondering if anyone can provide any exprience, tips, tactics or numbers for the right people to get in contact with. I haven't been this excited in a long time so any adivce to make it a trip to remember would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to Keep a close eye on the weather which looks as though its going to be calm to light breezy, west to north west winds. Going to start on the Dingle Pennisula, then down through waterville as far as caherdaniel/derrynane over the few days.

Cheers

Jh

If you're going to hit the Iveragh then contact Kevin Brian. I think his site is kbfishing. Google it and you'll find it. He offers a very good service. A word of warning...Do not attempt to go over the Conner Pass in a campervan. If you're fishing north Dingle then you can't go that way in a camper, if you want to head south. Bring float gear with you. There's amazing sport from rock marks down there that nobody fishes. You'll love it. Have a blast.

To be honest Eoghan i'm easy on locations and where to go. The rough plan is to start at Derrynane and drive the ring around to waterville and on to dingle or the other way around. I've been keeping an eye on the weather but the tides i wasn't sure about yet as i hadn't chosen the marks for each day yet and i have no idea which stages fish best in each area. only my second time fishing in kerry. i'll be pretty much fishing tuesday afternoon, all evening, all day/night wednesday and Thursday day. Any tips would be very welcome. The more marks, and tactics to try sqeeze into this time frame the better. Winds look like they will be westerlys generally, not as hot as the past few days but still nice with some more cloud cover. wind speeds are looking around 5 - 15km at different parts of the days. wind direction seems to be unsettled, but mainly west.
