Pollock or something a bit different in Wexford?

#1 Post by trailblazzer »

Hi all,

I am moving to New Zealand next week for a new job :D . I'm going fishing tomorrow, so this will be my final outing back home in Wexford for at least a year or 2. My Dad and brother are coming with me.

I know this might be a little cheeky but can anyone here recommend somewhere in Wexford we might have the best chance of something? I'm not fussy really but it would be nice to get something decent before I head off. I've spent years fishing in around Rosslare point and the strand, But never managed to catch anything anywhere else. With the ban on Bass its not worth my while heading out there. :(

I've never had pollock or any of its relatives off the beach so it would be great to tick the box before I leave.

Any tips at all really would be great. I appreciate nobody wants to give up their top spot!

We have a good variety of gear so I can try a few different techniques.

Thanks alot guys!

Could try the rocks at north end of clones. Had plenty of variety there. Prob not pollock though. Why not try greystones harbour. Not wexford but not too far away.

You could try hook head left of the lighthouse should be plenty of pollock and wrass it very rough ground so try spinning or s.p or try float fishing with rag worm but only head down in calm weather best of luck in n.z
