I use braid main-line and a hard mono shock leader but still kind of on the fence.
My own reasoning is
The mono is kinder to the rod when casting because of the stretch.
The stretch might stop the hook from being pulled when you have a fish on the line.
Mono wont cut your hand when your lifting something out of the surf.
Mono has more abrasion resistance in mixed heavy ground.
but
Braid shock leader is thinner so more yards on the cast for the distance rod.
Thinner knot good for rod rings, 60lb mono knot is an bit of a monster even with neat knots like double uni.
Braid straight through will be more sensitive and might help, with not belly hooking fish.
