New to fishing what are these?

Me and very lil sister are out fishing every Saturday for a few weeks now cheap rods using three hook flappers on size 2 hooks and we managed to bring in 17 of these things in 4hrs was wondering what they are? And also I bought 20 three hook flappers with size 2/0 hooks are these too big for pier fishing? Looking to catch anything at all.

Their whiting and there's plenty about. Very tasty if you get any big enough!! Try using smaller hooks though. Size 2 or 4's will help you pick up more species. Although I've had smaller whiting on a 4/0!!

I have size 2 hooks also they came up on them. What would be considered a good size for these? Thanks for your response and help.

Yea plenty of whiting around at the moment were you fishing a beach or pier
Species 2012: Flounder, Whiting, Dublin Bay Codling, Coalie, 3 Beard Rockling, Shore Rockling, Bass, Dogfish, 5.2lb Starry Smoothhound (PB), Twaite Shad, Thornback Ray 5.8lbs (PB), LSD, Pollock, Ballan Wrasse, Cork Wing Wrasse, 43cm Flounder (PB)

Species 2013: Coalie, East Coast Codling, Smoothounds, And hopefully a back opp to get back fishing soon...

Anything around 35cm and you've got small fillets. If you can pick up a few that size a session you're laughing.

Fishing off bray pier on an incoming tide with 3hook flappers and size 2 hooks brought three big ones in on a single line simply using rag taught they were just shitty minnows happy to know its a fish I can take home only new too fishing so all help is appreciated thanks lads
