Daiwa pairs

#1 Post by FRANK1 »

Lads,

Im going fishing the Daiwa pairs next week .Does anyone know what the bait is ? I heard maddies but I think someone is taking the piss .Is that when whites go mad when you stick a 2/0 up their hole ?

It could be a long week if I dont get any fish .I heard some good anglers from GB go to it.

Need advice to beat these lads .Any Kerrymen not still sulking that will tell us where the fish are? We will bring a picture of SAM down .

How do I keep my bait frozen till the week-end after .Have to go straight to Mullaghmore from Pairs and havent that many freezer packs .

Thanks lads
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

No need for the picture we see enough of Sam down here just make sure you take plenty pictures be a while before he is back with ye again  .

As for the pairs its a great comp, fished it last year for the first time great week.
You can find more info on the comp here http://www.ullcatch.com/daiwa-pairs/ with a link to the pairs page with venues etc.
Who ever told you about the maddies(aka: harbour rag) has given you good advise there are a must for Inch, Banna.
Ventry will need fresh sand-eel, Mackerel some lug just bring what ever you can get your hands on and don't for get your gar-rigs
Best of luck. 8)

Its the best competition in the country in my opinion, the angler can choose either to go for a few big fish or lots of smaller fish and still be in with equal chance of winning. fish are measured and given points on a calculated length to weight ratio (which seems to be fairly accurate)

As Martin said you need a wide variety of bait with you, lug and maddies for the flats and mackerel and sandeel for the dogs rays and gars. And yes there is some top anglers from britain and ireland. But the best thing is that if the fish arent playing ball with you its still a week's holiday in Dingle.
