Needing advice on a fs reel, and a new rod

#1 Post by Sparkie »

Looking for some advice on a fixed spool reel. Looking to get a reel I can use for scratching on the beach, and for spinning off rocks and for just dropping a line down the side off a pier!

I will be pairing this up with the Ian golds Enticer I'm going to get this weekend, im not sure weather to get the fs version or the multi version, as they have the same reel seats. Just the eyes are diff, I don't know which one to go for as I do like scratchin on the beach with a multi

The Enticer is an 11ft Estuary rod if I remember rightly. I would deffo go with one of the smaller Shimano reels (Navi, Biomaster etc....)

i got an abu soron 70 a few weeks ago and im well impressed with it. comes with 2 spools and one is a "special super cool" braid spool which i stuck mono on  . ive it loaded with 10lb line and a 30lb leader.
its not the cheapest, €120, theres also smaller sizes, 50 and 60 i think.
it had no probs pulling in a double dog last night from a pier.

Anyone have any advice on the rod? I don't know wether to get the rod which is rung for multi or the one rung for fixed spool

Which will be the best if I want use a fs spool and a multi for diff sessions! Will the fs cast ok on the multi eyes, and will the multi cast well on the fs eyes!

I want this rod for scratching, but I also want to be able to go rock hopping with it for plugging and spinning, I'm really thinking of the multi version and just hoping it will cast a fixed spool reel ok for spinning and the likes!

For all the types of fishing you describe the FS version is the answer, the rod is an 11ft light estuary rod so can't see why anyone would be sticking a multiplier on one of them.

Are you sure that is the rod you want? the Ian Golds Premier Match at 13ft would be a much better purchase for what you describe.
