day fishing versus night fishing?

just wondering how much of a differnece it makes fishing at night.am i wasting my time fishing from the shore during the day. was going to hit one of the wicklow beaches on wednesday at about 4 o clock pm. any input appreciated.

a lot of the species we fish for venture closer to shore under the cover of darkness but that's not saying you won't catch during the day... But species like smoothound,bass,cod,ray etc are easier to come across come night time ... If you plan on fishing the wicklow beaches fish them at night they all produce better at night.. A two hook rig carrying lug/rag and sandeel should put you in line for a few fish on any of the wicklow beaches at night...
