Thanks. They're young anyway so they'll enjoy the outing even if no fish.
If all else fails, I can use them as groundbait!.

Where's a good source of frozen bait around there?

Fenit is ideal for the kids as its safe and there is usually plenty room for them to walk around. Fishing can be poor at times but it does have its good days aswell. It can throw up plenty dog fish even when its fishing poorly, they will take strips of mackeral and even better I think is herring. Fishing for Pollock on floats as somebody said can also be effective. I have also spotted you can pick up small dabs and rockling on very small hooks with tiny strips of bait. Most people wouldnt bother with them but the kids may enjoy it, remember the hooks have to be small.

I have heard of big bass taking sandeel off the pier too, never happened to myself but you would never know and with the sandeel or mackeral you may get a bang from a ray. Its defo worth a cut and it will be improving during this weather.

Enjoy yourself and best of luck

Well the kids enjoyed catching crabs. But their best story is the Thornback that their dad nearly caught. It was about 12 inches across and fought like a paving stone, but broke off once I got it to the surface. At least they got a good look at it. The bait was squid by the way and there were no other bites on the day.
