Greater Spotted Dogfish

#1 Post by Shep »

Hi guys,

For those who don't know me I've only been angling for around 6 months properly so please bear with me :)

Basically, I love catching dogfish! They are one of my favourite fish, I have caught a few Lesser Spotted Dogfish but I have never caught a Greater Spotted Dogfish.
Does anybody have any tips for targeting GSD's off the shore?

Any information about what type of ground they like, baits or rigs would be very much appreciated and put to good use.

Thanks guys!

Shep.

I live on the east coast and have fished for bull huss a lot with some success but only on the west coast in both galway and kerry... They like to live in deepish water around rough ground and will take a range of baits although I only had success with big mackrel fillets and lance sandeel. I was using a pulley rig with 80lb hook snood and 4/0 pennel hooks .. Again I'm no expert but I hope this helps
