Trawler wars

Just wondering was anyone watching trawler wars on discovery channell, very good programme, anyways as they were hauling in the nets and emptying them I noticied a fish to me it was a doggie was of no real size but had 3 distinctive black rings about an inch in width and a couple of inches apart with the usual other spots you would expect to see on a doggie.My question is are these just the markings on the fish or is it a different sort of species of doggie. Ive caught plenty of doggies in Ireland mostly the light sandy colour with the odd darker coloured ones,they were trawling off the south coast of England in gale Force 10 winds crazy suff, 550 pounds for 24 hours wasnt bad not a job for me though.

as far as i know there are only two type of dogfish in british/irish waters.. the lesser and greater spotted dogfish..

i watched this alrite but never payed attention to the dogfish thing.was lookin at the massive turbot more

didnt wathed that programe but there is another shark very similar to doggie is a( cat shark )
just not shore would it be habitating in these waters
i saw that in one of davids atembrogh's programes

as far as i know there are only two type of dogfish in british/irish waters.. the lesser and greater spotted dogfish..

There's also the blackmouth dogfish. Never heard of them caught off the shore but they do inhabit irish waters.

We catch the Blackmouth dogfish up here in the north channel its a deep water species usually caught in 300+feet of water

Screaming reels and Steyrman have pictures of them on there Boat Hunt 2010 on here

Its about 20 minutes into it Lady Lou the skipper is showing the massive turbot and you see the net being emptied you see him swimming down the over the top of the monkfish. Ive had a look at the species list and Im now thinking its just a normal doggie that has black markings on him.. Thanks for the replies lads
