Lure fishing for Bass in wexford
Was gonna head down to Wexford/Wicklow to try for my first bass on plugs/lures. Any suggestions on where I could try would be much appreciated

Re: Lure fishing for Bass in wexford
Been getting good results recently in the mouth of the estuaries at cullenstown and fethard, shallow divers and plastics like X-layers have been getting results, best at cullenstown at dusk on first of the flood. Fethard fishes best on last 3 hours of ebb, any time of day. Good luck, just keep persevering till you get the movement of these lures right. The x-layers can just be allowed to drift down on the tide, the bass seem to be waiting in the gulleys to ambush their prey coming down stream.

Big winds and seaweed are making things tough at the minute

Cheers lads. I'll wait for the weather to settle a bit so. I've heard that cullenstown estuary has very fast moving water and you need to wade out a bit. Is that right?

I would be very wary in that area wading unless you know it very very well even at that its risky even on the smallest of tides in fact i would not wade at all as the channel is not wide anyway so no need to wade for casting reasons.

Fast moving water is spot on there is a whore of a flow there at times watch yourself if you are on the outer bank even knee deep water wading back in can be troublesum to say the least.....daveyboy wrote:Cheers lads.
