any of the rock marks in south dublin all produce wrasse including dun laoighre, killiney, and the rocks in greystones... rag works well but crab will produce bigger fish

I have tried them but i found them hard work trying to descale one, also the flesh when cooked tends to turn to mush and bland ,so i wont be trying one again but i like catching them

we got one that went belly up a few weeks ago when i returned him. so i spent the next 10 mins trying to foul hook it to get it back in as it seemed a shame to let his life go to waste and end up as gull food. got it home scaled it, filleted it and boned it (no smart remarks lads  ). i gotta say it was pretty bland and mushy compared to any other fish i've ever eaten, and we like our fish. added to that they take so long to grow it would be a shame to target them for the table. with a 2lb wrasse you're looking at a fish that is at least 10 years old and they are a territorial fish. so a few lads could wipe them out from a mark in a fairly short space of time :x :x :x . trust me i've seen it happen
