Re: fixed spool rod
The penn Affinity is a good long rod, and a few club members have one, so maybe have a look at the next comp.

i had the surfmaster 850 reel and i can say was not the best reel in the world the
bearing went in it very quickly after hauling in dogs with a bit of weed and have heard the same probs from other lads that had than hope it helps yea a bit and why not have a look at the Shakespeare K2 Extreme Titanium Beachcaster or Shakespeare K2 Red Metal Twin Tip Rod
there nice bit of kit.if u want fintan i can bring down a Shakespeare K2 Blue Metal Team Extreme Beachcaster for yea to have a few chucks of at the kids day out.

Re: fixed spool rod
Myself and the friend have the 850, very poor reel, very plasticy on the inside not like the old surfmasters

Re: fixed spool rod
i have the 750. took it apart to have a look at the guts and was not impressed with the internal quality. they take in damp a bit too quickly and dont react well. a bit like an alpha romeo - great for the first few drives.
