Penn Mag 5I5

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Penn Mag 5I5

#1 Post by kstaff »

Whispers a plenty about the possible release of a PENN 515 Mag for early 2010!!!

I believe it has all the good stuff of the current 525 but slightly smaller!

As if the 525 can't get get any better, it seems the 515 will be it's smaller just as tough brother!

Happy Days if true!!!

Sounds nice. I think the Okuma Magnetex has alread a good foothold in this area, so it will be interesting to see the price points.

Not too sure as I haven't seen the reel, but personally I rate the Okuma. I've abused the crap out mine this year on the boat. Rinse down after every second session or so and so far it is going very well. I think they are up there with the Penn. The spool and spindle are attached like the old abu's so they would not be as good for out and out distance though, but from a rugged perspective they seem to be up there with the Penn. Will need a couple of years to be a 100% sure though

any info on prices or exactly when it will be on the market, if they do market it think it will hit the sales of the 6500 hi/speed mag with its poor gearing imo
