I was also thinking of something similar. I'm up to my eyes trying to get the first Comp together so maybe I'll try put something together for during the summer.

Casting event

Hello - IMASA used to run all or most of the casting events around the Dublin area. Andrew Gormley ran it for years until "party politics" distroyed it, or so it goes. Andrew achieved everything he set out to do and bowed out to let Sam Roche take over the reins again. Unfortunately there seems to have been a total collapse and it's been abandoned - unless local Dublin anglers know better. It's certainly getting no press. Most local Dublin tackle shops know Andrew and could put you in touch with him for casting lessons. A friendly competition is always good craic plus you'll learn a lot.

I hope this helps.

just when i thought no-one was interested!! it dosen't even have to be a comp. for it might turn people off. it would be nice to meet up and swing a bit of lead every now and again and see how far we can all cast!!! hopefully we will all become top swingers and raise the profile of the site even more!!! i am sure there are a few out there that might like to give it a try?

Mark,

Lets get the ball rolling on this... How about we make it an evening event and take the Comp thing out. 5 or 6 lads a field and 2 hours should do the trick. Casts and pb's and all that can be listed here.

Jaysys, the multipler will have to be cleaned  :D :D

i love to get it up and running. it's a good thing to have during the slow months too- gets you ready for lauching 'em out for the spring plaice and the arriving doggies!! i am extremely busy until the very end of this month. i will try and arrange something afterwards. it's also a chance to try out different set ups and the like.

i have thought a bit about this one. public liability is a major factor. this will probably decide the venue. if all else fails i will pick a low tide on dollymount beach(or similar). casting seaward we will put no-one at risk. i will mark out the distances in 50m intervals up to 3000yards(jokin!!). this is not going to be a thing for people to show off!! it is to get all to chip in and hopefully get people on the right road who are unhappy with their casting. all i ask is that no-one turns up with 25lb. plus line!!! what do yee think??? i hope to do this before the end of the month?? i don't care if only one person turns up! if it's worth it for you then likewise for me.

Sounds good Mark. I know Dollier can be busy enough on a nice evening but the bull wall end is closed to cars I think and is usually quiter, less chance of taking out a few grannies by mistake... :)

there are also football pitches (Father Colins Park) just past Donaghmede shopping centre, the last pitch is not much used as far as i can see, so it might be a good choice.

cheers

what time will suit yee? say 7 so that people can have their dinner! fields/dollier to be decided. i reckon the fields might be better as long as they're reasonably safe. if we choose dollier i'll just want to fish!!
