The Lure of the Bass 22 June 2009

#1 Post by Danny M. »

People: Baz, Pat, Tom & Myself

Duration:7pm - midnight

Tide: Fall

Weather: Nice clam & Warm

Bait: Lures and Soft Plastics

Rigs: A good pair of shoes

Results:
Baz: 1 Bass, 1 Escapee Bass !!!
Tom 1 Sea Trout
Pat: Blank
Myself: Attacked by a Wasp, Electrocuted and fell down a cliff !

Report:
Reading all those Lure reports from the weekend I had to break the news to War Office that I was going fishing again yesterday evening  !! So I rounded up the troops and gave my motivational Bass talk, the lads in turn had to break the news to their better halves  (we are all going to be shot soon  )
The first serious Lure session of the year was on, arrived on location and started our hike across fields of mobile quarter pounders, moo  While I was preparing to negotiate an electric fence an oul wasp started head butting me, long and the short of it I got lifted out of it by the fence :P
All buzzed up we made our way to our descent point on the cliff, long and short of that, I fell and ended up landing head first in a thorn bush half way down
Anyway onto the fishing, Pat, Tom and I fired out the lures and it was apparent weed was going to be an issue. We carried on regard less. I got hit on the Tide Minnow, but 3 head shakes and the Bass was gone. Pat got a follow by a submarine of a Bass, this lad was huge  but didn’t take. The place was alive with fish breaking the water, Sea Trout, Mullet, Bass, Sand eels and sprat were all there in abundance.
Baz arrived down later wondering why no fish was landed yet!!! Second cast on with his Xlayer and bang a Bass struck about 30 yards out, a bit of splashing later the little fellow was landed. Happy Days 8)
We walked miles of coast line but couldn’t get away from the weed will was killing the lures.
Tom put on a Toby and struck in to a little Sea Trout for his efforts, good stuff!
Baz hooked another Bass on the Feed Shallow just before dark and played him into his feet but the Bass went bananas and throw the hook and sped off in to the Dark Blue yonder !

Until next time 8)

there was plenty of weed down that part of the country alright. i still swap a days fishing down there for up here regardless though.

fishing can be dodgy enough avoiding wasps and electric fences. glad to hear your grand
