Dalriada Rocks 21/03/2009

#1 Post by smicker »

People:Me

Date :21/3/09

Venue:Dalriada Rocks

Duration: 17.00 – 22.00

Tide:high water approx 20.00

Weather:sunny

Bait:Lug, Rag, Mack, Sandeel, muscle

Rigs:2 hook flappers, 2 hook clipped down

Results:2 coalfish, 2 codling

Report: Arrived at dalriada rocks for a club comp got set up for a 5 o clock start. Fishing dead for the first 2 hours, with baits coming back untouched bites. The action only started when it started to get dark with a coalie 22 cm a double of coadling to 18 cm and a coalie 39 cm. Bites died off after 9 o clock. All fish came to lug and mack on 2 hook flapper with loads of bling. Sonic rod survived another outing and gived the small size of the fish gave pretty good bite detection.
Overall the competition results varied with another 5 anglers on dalriada rocks having a similar number of mainly small fish however other rock marks proved more productive and it was won with 17 fish 25-44 cm.

Fairly close, i was using a multiplier and not confident to try and wack it in the dark, i would gestimate approx 30 40 yds

Nice work smicker, definitely more nice "counters" to be had round at the rocks it seems, even though I only joined the lads at the beach for a leisure trip

as usuall, the best fish came from the rough, rougher the better. Dalriada rocks tends to be clean after the first 20 yds. I think only 3 counters came from dalriada out of 6 anglers

'twas a tough night alright lads...

I had 12 in all but only 2 counters. I managed all my fish at distance 100yds+ and all fell to sandeel.

Roll on Ballyhornan....
