waterfoot pier

#1 Post by minty »

People:just me

Duration:6 till midnight

Tide:low

Weather:dry and light winds

Bait:rag mack and sandeel

Rigs:2 hook clipped 3 hook flappers

Results:7 coalies 1 rockling and 1 crab

Report:was hoping for an early trip to waterfoot to catch the tide but got caught up in work and did'nt leave belfast till after 4. was hoping to fish the beach but seen that the tide was full out when i got there so headed fo the pier. got chatting to a fella who had been there a while and he told me he'd already landed a decent plaice, so that was all the encougragement i needed to stay there and set up. fishing was slow to start but as the light started to drop the bites picked up, landed a few little coalies followed by the rockling, another slow period then a few more coalies. had one rod fishing fairly close and one as far as i could get it, was using rag and mack on the close rod and sandeel at distance. was getting a good few big knocks on the eel baits but no hook ups. was hoping for a hungry doggie or 2, but no luck with them yet. all in all not a bad night just wished the fish could have been a bit bigger
some times catching crabs is a good thing.........or is it...........?
