Its virtually impossible to acuratly gauge your distance over water. Every 2nd guy on the beach reckons they can cast 200yds untill they see it layed out infront of them in a field

Never a truer word said, as my PB 135m will testify!paddyc wrote:Its virtually impossible to acuratly gauge your distance over water. Every 2nd guy on the beach reckons they can cast 200yds untill they see it layed out infront of them in a field
135m with lead, is probably only 100m with 3 baited hooks, and I find 85% of fishing conditions don't even call for that.
I mean look at Brock, he's some what of Record Breaker on the field, but can he catch fish.....NO

Re: Fixed spool/multipliers
Tex I,ve been shore fishing for decades and have tried them all believe you me stick to your fixed spool as the multi,s are not worth the bother .. they look the part but it ends there !

Seriously though AG did 180 with a simulation trace on the field if you can do it on the beach youll beat Danny.

Re: Fixed spool/multipliers
If ur hitting 180+ you could get some cracking birdies in the dark with a multiplier.
I would stick where you are.

Re: Fixed spool/multipliers
personally i would change rods , your 12ft shakespeare salt will be running out of steam at around the 180m mark imho .tex wrote:Hi fellas, thinking of upgrading from fixed to multi, wondering if theyre as headwrecking to master as some people make out??generally i use shimano baitrunners and have no problem whatsoever wit them(i hear some of you saying if its not broke dont fix it)however conditions sometimes favour distance, are they really the be all and end all of angling?thanks
