As far as mainline is concerned Dave, I have noticed absolutely no difference whatsoever in catch rates between neon yellow, bright red, clear and braided lines. Absolutely none....

i use bright yellow daiwa tournament (15lb) for my bass fishing and see no difference between my results and those using clear.also very useful for night fishing as its easier to see.

for any bassing i would do locally i would definately prefer clear. bass come into very shallow water and often you wont need a leader fishing so close in, unless you like weed! just a confidence thing...

i don't notice any difference in catch rate in regards to line colour either. the majority of salt water fish are colorblind according to the NEFSC and only respond to movement, shape and size. so as long as your line doesn't have the diameter of rope you should be alright!
species for 2009 (42)
species for 2010 (27)
species for 2011 (12)
species for 2012 (8)
best advice for catching species is girls dont like fishing and its hard to catch fish when you sell all your gear'

fair enough but... some lines may stand out in contrast to surrounding possibly making spooky fish wary. maybe...

Try to use clear if I'm fishing shallow water venues Mr.Green, both for snoods and mainline. Least then I'm not paranoid that its putting any fish off. To be honest though thats mainly for comp or bass fishing. Generally for rough ground stuff I'm not as fussy.
