looking back at my fishing diary and noticed this time last year i got a wee bit of sport with the doggies at orlock, co. down. based on that i'm gonna give it a throw this weekend. just wondering if anyone has had any joy before now along the down coast?
had plenty of dogs until xmas, then nothing until feb, which produced a few and been getting better since then. But very little joy in daytime, just the odd one. And yes these where on the Down coast and i fish on average 10 times a month.
hi mate, only get out during the day. but i caught plenty during the day last year. gonna give orlock a throw anyway chum, fingers crossed i'll have something to post this weekend.
Have had a couple in the past month or so during the day, so they are out there, maybe the heat wil help. let us know how you get on at Orlock, i fished it a few times last year but stopped for the winter as i dont fancy the rocks with wind and rain.
I've caught a few dogfish over the years, but they always seem to curl up in a ball, so it's like reeling in a lump of kelp. I always thought they were more of a nuisance than a sport fish - where am I going wrong?
some get tangled in ur trace and come in like a dead weight and other put up a scrap, it all depends. i enjoy catching them, especially when they save u from catching nout somedays.
alright drew, they seem to hit the dee quite late compared to orlock but i'd still like to have heard of a few pulled in there. do u ever try to fish at distance from the back of the dee pier?
