Report:
What a day for a forum meet! Couldn't have asked for better weather, the fishing was a bit patchy, but the craic more than made up for it.
Arrived to find most of the lads already set up, so got set up at the end. Flat calm conditions and crystal clear water so bites were few and far between. Steve had a doggie before we arrived, and petekd quickly caught up with him. The 2 lads seemed to have a bit of a private competition going, with plenty of banter  . Great stuff....
I had a doggie on sandeel, then reeled in a heavy bit of weed to find it was actually a ray - my first from the shore :D Well chuffed with that I can tell you :D
Went for a walk or two, nothing much happening. Mr. Green beside me caught his first thornie while I was away, he seemed well chuffed with that. First time meeting him and Al, good lads, great craic out of them anyway
I think by this time petekd had well overtaken Steve on the fish count, then he blew him away with the best thornie of the day, about 4-5lbs. He followed that up with a double shot of LSD and poor cod. The poor cod was later used as bait for a conger that took him into the rocks, never came out
After it got dark the sea mist blew in, got quite cold for a while, but when the wind dropped the temperature rose again. The 2 Petes went off to the car and returned with what can only be described as a mountain of food  The disposable barbie went on and burgers, sausages, lamb chops, chicken fillets, and god knows what else were cooked up. Tastiest bit of grub I've had in a while, and definitely the best-catered fishing outing I've been on!! Cheers Pete! :D
Thanks also to Steve for the boiling water for tea :D
A few more fish were caught after dark, more doggies mostly. Midget was pulling out a few coalies and pollack very close in on light tackle. I landed my first ever conger, about 60cm I guess. Well chuffed again!! :D Petekd had a conger too, and Al saved his blank with a doggie...
A great day out, myself and midget left about 11, think the lads were going to move to the beach after that, I'm sure they'll chip in with reports tomorrow. Lots of pics taken, will post up later. Watch out for photo edits in the Scomber!

Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

Super session lads, I had an absolute ball :D . 7/8 Doggies, 2 Pollack, a Coalie, 2 Ray, 2 Poor cod and a Strap Conger..... My first ray from the shore too, 48cms across the wings and about 4 1/2 lbs or so. Absolutely delighted with that :D . Sandeel was king on the day.
The craic was ninety, with equal shares of abuse being volleyed in various directions.... :D Glad the grub went down well.... Hope noone suffered any ill effects from undercooked chops and the like..... :D
Landed the second ray from the beach , only a tiny fella but glad to see him all the same. He took rag tipped off with mack on size 6s. I had actually cast out, popped the rods outside the tent and had an hours sleep before getting up to check them. On returning to the tent, to my abject horror, it was full of bouncing horrible little sand hoppers!! Cue a rapid retreat to the Hyundai hotel where I spent a most uncomfortable few hours before eventually hiiting the road at half eight this morning.
Good fishing, good company, good weather, good food and good craic...... It doesnt get a whole pile better than that. Fair play to the rest of the bunch for taking the trip up, well worth it though. Ill post the pics up in a day or two.

Sounds like a good session. Will you make the compo on the 21st MC? I'm hoping to fish on afterwards, with a little local guidance and support :D

quote from the night..."How do you eat yours?"
will be looking into another Galway meet sometime around July/August...
maybe same venue, then again... maybe somewhere else..
as always i'll give plenty of notice...
Galway might not do meets too often, but when we do, you'll remember them forever
