I'm looking to buy a new lamp for the approaching dark evenings. Having never bought one before I'm not sure what to look for, a search did manage to throw up a few ideas though.
I'm looking for a cheap enough one as I will be only using it about twice a month, any suggestions?
Sorry, I know similar questions have been asked before

I have recently invested in a Thunderbolt Rechargeable Lamp (9 hours from a full charge).
It is very good but it was expensive. I expect to get many years use out of it.
You can buy cheaper ones in B&Q, Argos and most camping stores but you need to refuel regularly and there is always the threat of a wee accident with the gas
It is really down to how much you want to spend and how much use you will get out of it.
Buy the MK3 Thunderbolt from the maker and you can get it cheap I did.
Great lamp . No fuel or mantles or hazzle. spend the extra few quid you will be glad you did.
I have a spare colemans duel fuel twin mantle lantern for sale if anyone looking one. tested once and never used, has a reflector and petrol container for safe transport as new in box. won in a comp and have another i do use and it burns for hours and gives of great light and can even keep you warm i put rocks on top then put in pockets instant hand warmers. lol
Pm an offer if you looking one need dosh to fix car
Thaks for those other suggestions guys.
Pookie, the lamp sounds the biz but there pretty expensive, so I'd imagine you'd want/be able to get more money then I could offer.
Zensor, cheers for that, must try and have a look at it
KK, had a look at the ebay ones, these colemans are battery operated, just wondering if anybody has one and if so how do you find it?
http://www.Ebay.com dont use the ie-the irish one ya wana buy them off the americans(there cheaper), and theres loads of coleman north star fuel lanterns with cases for 20 dollars which is only 14 euro, thats pretty good!!! there prob the best lantern around
goodheadlamp is the way to go i believe, i never use my colemans etc anymore at all. except whilst camping. i find that on a lot of venues the light from the lamps/or even headlamps puts the fish off and spooks them in close, so best to stick to a small led headlight for baiting up and watching the rof tips etc, or else fit your lamp with a light deflector that will block the light from going out one side of the lamp ie not to the seaward side
Not the BigPhil from Irish Angler mag, I'm the original, i swear!!!!
Ok, so now it seems, following more advice here that a headlamp seems a better option. Thinking about it it would be handier for me also, as if I am cycling somewhere its easier to store than a lantern. Thanks for all the help allready lads, and sorry to be changing my mind
Now, can anybody suggest a headlamp , thinking that ebay is the way to go....? THe same price restrictions would apply though, can only spend about 35 euro. Thanks for any info,
