Fished Redbay pier for the first time in years last Friday 10am to 15.30pm. The wind was blowing a gale making it difficult for bite detection. No luck with fresh mackeral strips but once wind died down and we switched bait to rag - the wrasse went mental. Personal best wrasse was about 4 pounds, which put up a hell of a fight. Lots of pollack and small coalies as well as wrasse about 1-2 pounds. Good day out and thanks for whoever left the bag of rag at the pier - it changed our day from a windy biteless (is that a word)one to a good days fishing.

Cheers. I actually hooked into something which I knew was a good fish but unfortunately the hook snapped off (need to learn to tie better knots)! As I was reeling in from about 50m out twenty minutes later - the line just went bang. Once I got the fish up I noticed it had my other hook still embedded in his mouth - greedy bas***d! Needless to say, I unhooked both and tossed him back in to grow another few inches! Fish were going mad for the rag! Not a crab in sight!

Thats an interesting one for the Anti Angling brigade who insist fishing is cruel..... Cant be that bad if it didnt put that lad off his grub.Once I got the fish up I noticed it had my other hook still embedded in his mouth - greedy bas***d!
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial
