Headed to Balscadden in Howth just before high tide yesterday evening. Not enough room to fish as there were plenty of anglers. Stayed and observed one angler take mackerel in 2's and 3's , no-one either side of him landing any. Counted 10 mackerel during a short stay.

Tried Clogherhead this morning just after high tide. Not a thing. The seals barely glanced in my direction so they had little confidence in my ability in providing a snack.

Nothing in skerries Last night . More gulls getting caught down there than macks.

Re: SHORE MACKEREL REPORTS 2019
Sure it's no wonder there are no mackerel being caught around the bay, mackerel are obviously gorging themselves on the nutritious overflow from the sewage treatment plant (AGAIN), it's laughable.

Fountainstown Sunday. Not a sniff of a mackerel. Or Pollock or anything else for that matter (lures only used). Its a hit and miss location (my opinion) but still...

Re: SHORE MACKEREL REPORTS 2019
At last - since the weekend there have been loads of mackerel in Clogherhead. Most of them are tiny but there's an edible one in between. The wind has come up today so it's likely there's loads of sand in the water which keeps them away, but once the wind dies down they should be around again.

Last Tues/Wed fishing for about 2 hours in the pouring rain near Portnoo Donegal, about 2 dozen big mackerel. Nice 7 pound pollock too!
