Re: Beara
Read that emailed Ashley about it.. he still had really good fishing but no mullet caught. We won't be targeting mullet at all. Last year we had a great time, really big Pollack (9lbs) and coalie 8(lbs) along with conger and huss. After reading that got scared but still good fishing to be had just not as good as 5/10 years ago.

Re: Beara
Agreed. If only everyone on this site and every other site pulled together and put pressure on our government to change these practices it might gain some traction. I personally thanked Ashley Hayden for writing about his concerns to the times.ive also emailed government officials in the past about fisheries issues and from my point of view if its singular it ain't worth a damn. As anglers we need to be on par together an bombard politicians until the they pull their heads out their asses. Its the only way. Every irish citizen has a right to the marine environment let's not forget that.....

Re: Beara
For info on catches check out Facebook page 'sea fishing on the Beara peninsula' . Plenty of pollack around in the last two weeks with the best weighed at 13-2 with several other double figure fish. Crow Head was very good with almost a fish a cast at one stage with mainly 3 to 6 pounders but some bigger. Plenty of wrasse on crab also.
Live out on the beautiful Beara Peninsula. Always willing to assist visiting anglers.

Re: Beara
Pretty much as Ashley described unfortunately. We had a lot of average sized Pollack and congers not anywhere near like previous years. Got a whopping total of 6 mackerel and not for the lack of trying no wrasse. Very disappointed about it generally. The weather was beautiful and as usual the scenery amazing but the fishing....meh

Re: Beara
I would still go down daveyboy the numbers from previous years weren't there anywhere close to it, but still got some big Pollack and average conger small huss plaice and gurnard cd07 very happy with that one.. still worth every bit of the trip just to be there. And hopefully next year it will be great again
