Folks, anyone ever have luck using razor as bait in Dublin (northside)? I've tried big frozen razor bait without success now and then over the years with bass in mind. In fairness though no one was fishing or catching alongside me at the time so there may have been no bass about.
Maybe rigging it up smaller might get flats ?

Re: Razor Clam
Not the same location, But I've had some cracking bass sessions down this way with razor.
I've always fished with fresh razor over low water and the big springs.

Re: Razor Clam
That's good to hear. I fish Donabate and Portrane beaches and everyone fishes with rag. I think I'll try and experiment more with it and scale down the hook size and fish along with rag too. See if it's the bait or just no fish around. Always here people recommend razor down south but not so much up this way

Re: Razor Clam
That's the draw for me. Just being able to nip down for a quick hour or two on the beach without going collecting/buying bait. Just pulling a few razor out o the freezer. Just have to start catching on it! Get a few flats on frozen mack but never had bass on frozen baits yet...not that I've had many on nay other bait either!eoghanb wrote:Best thing about razor is it freezes well and can be refrozen

daveyboy
wait till there is a good easterly blow and then after it on the next tide fish razor.that is when the razor is washed and smashed up in the tide.try corballis or gormanstown that general area.king rag/big eels also work.these baits have accounted for lots of big bass in that area over the years.

Re: Razor Clam
I've found it can be hit and miss, I've had more fish on rag but 2 flounders either side on the kilo mark a few years ago on razor, some bass too.
A good second bait along with rag I'd say!
