Beara - Advice needed

#1 Post by alby »

Hi All,

I’m heading down to the Beara Peninsula the weekend of 15 – 19 September

Plan is to target Pollock, wrasse, (triggers would be nice), huss, ray & some sand dwellers – plaice, dabs, and maybe a few bass if time & conditions permit.

I will be in touch with Paul Harris prior to going down, but just wondered if anyone else had any tips or guidance on marks & state of tide they best fish?

Also – what bait would you recommend bringing, and what is relatively speaking readily available when you get there?

A lot of questions I know so many thanks in advance!!

Haven't been down for years but I think Paul has plenty of frozen bait. Not sure if he has any live bait. Think Sandeel and mackerel work well down there from what he told me. I mainly just fished for polock At dursey sound. There's good pollock fishing all round. There's some rock marks north of castletownbere looking out towards Bere island that are good for pollock and I've heard Ray too. Have a good trip. Nice spot

Hey Kev,

Will be staying with Paul. Nothing to do with fishing - the full Irish is apparently animal
