Hi lads.would it be to early to go after rays in march on the west coast? (Clew bay). I catch them on several marks during the summer up until the end of July at which point they seem to head out into deeper water. But I haven' ffished tthese marks In spring

I've got them here in Clifden as early as end of Jan
Not very big but still here
It seems they hang about for most of the year
We're having a little local comp in Renvyle fri night and I'll let u know if they show up

hi sean if the marks you fish are deeper then 10m you might chance a ray,i have seen ray caught at deeper water marks 10m+ every month of the year bar December

no ray showed during the comp,the water was a bit too rough for ray the wind was from the north and blowing in to the beach and the current was moving 6oz grip lead,loads of dogs coalfish and rockling were caught

There were a few ray about on that beach in early Feb. From memory I had at least two during the west coast shore league match. It was mainly dogs but there were ray about. I have had them there as early as the end ofJanuary.

I was there that night of the comp now that I think of it I remember there was a few caught. Apparently it through up when no place else is.
